Southpaw Vet wouldn’t exist without Lola.
A beautiful, confident and strong-willed English Bulldog who ventured into Dr. Yonas’ life at just 8 weeks old. It was an immediate connection. Lola encouraged Dr. Yonas to go to vet school, because he wanted to take the best possible care of his baby girl for a lifetime. With her by his side, the two conquered the ups, and constant downs, of vet school.
After 4 years of vet school, the two of them moved to Albuquerque, NM for Dr. Yonas’ internship and as diligently as she supported him through vet school she motivated him to get through the hard and long internship year. Lola and Dr. Yonas then found their way to Seattle to be with Matt and his chocolate lab, Gus. It was there she started her new life of leisure, swimming, sunning and finally meeting her grandparents that she loved to torment.
Dr. Yonas, Matt and Gus lost Lola prior to moving to San Diego, but her motivation and fierce determination to get done what she wanted has driven us to make Southpaw Vet the veterinary practice she would have wanted. Lola is intensely missed every day, but seeing her smiling face at Southpaw brings her memory into focus and reminds us why we are doing this: to provide the best damn vet care for the ones we love.
